AMBLEDOWN COTTAGE / EMPIRE WEDDING // CATHERINE & CHRIS
In a world where wedding traditions often take center stage, some couples decide to craft their unique narrative, deviating from the ordinary and creating a celebration that mirrors their individuality. Today, let's immerse ourselves in the tale of a couple who dared to defy convention, embarking on a three-day wedding celebration complete with four venues, five dresses, two suits, cakes and hair colors.
For Catherine and Chris the journey towards their unique celebration began with a shared vision of breaking free from the traditional wedding mold. In June, amidst the historic halls of Belfast Town Hall, they exchanged vows with only a witness present, setting the stage for their beautiful, unconventional story that would unfold over a further two unforgettable days.
Day One: Ambledown Cottage and Wright’s Bar, Glaslough:
Months later, Day One commenced with Catherine, Chris (Alfie their cat) and their bridal party all dressing at their home before travelling to the quirky and stunning Ambledown Cottage in the beautiful Glaslough Village in Co Monaghan. While the weather wasn’t in great form it didn’t put one damper on their celebrations, the couple and their guests danced and sang in the rain before the festivities continued into the evening at Wright’s Bar.
Day Two: The Empire in Belfast:
A few weeks later, Day Two unfolded at The Empire in Belfast. The sun smiled upon the day, leading to photos taken in Botanic Gardens and celebratory drink shots in the hotel bar. The Empire became the backdrop for a night of speeches, laughter and dancing. I’m sure there were a lot of sore heads the next day!
Catherine's fashion choices reflected her unique personality through five different dresses and two different hair colours. Ranging from vintage finds to thrifted treasures, each dress was an expression of her individuality. On both evenings Catherine changed into a shorter dress allowing her to dance freely.
Their story is a testament to the power of breaking free from tradition and embracing their uniqueness. As Catherine said to me, "I hope more people feel comfortable to do what makes them happy even if it is inconvenient." In the end, their celebration echoes a simple truth – it's your day, do it your way.
